Abbey Gettinger, APN-BC

Abbey Gettinger is a board certified Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in Centralia, Illinois. She began working with Dr. Liyanage in 2015. She quickly became his right hand and began seeing his vision for Advanced Surgical Technology. Now, Abbey is our Chief Operating Officer whose role is to implement his mission and vision into every AST office.

She is a highly trained professional, with a Masters of Science in a Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program at Walden University. Her background includes serving as an ICU nurse, house supervision, and as an ER nurse at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Education and certifications

Abbey graduated Cum Laude from Southern University Carbondale in 2009 and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society. She achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree at Southern Illinois University in psychology in 2009, her Associate Degree in Nursing from Kaskaskia College in 2012, and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Waldon University in 2015.

An extraordinary level of experience: Abbey Gettinger

At Advanced Surgical Technology, Abbey is responsible for providing personalized care to patients, including physical exams, observations recording medical history, symptoms, and administering and analyzing diagnostic tests, diagnosing health issues, and identifying changes in the health of patients and directing treatment to reflect any changes in overall health.

Abbey will work closely with your other healthcare professionals in treatment planning. She provides caring, focused, professional guidance to patients and their families to help them manage illnesses and conditions. She assists in our surgical procedures, as well as monitoring and operating our equipment at Advanced Surgical Technology.

On a personal note…

Abbey enjoys playing with her nieces and nephews, shopping, pampering herself, and playing slots in her spare time.
